Nepal Commission August 2007 and India Stock Trip

After the expansion of my web site in April I have gained several new customers. Probably the most significant being UAP Ltd of Walshaw. Managing director David Jennings was looking for a new photographer and came across my site. In the last few days David has commissioned me to cover a football tournament being run by North West charity DCWN-Nepal at a school built with money donated by UAP in Nepal. I will travel to Bhimphedi township south west Katmandu. Nepal of course is home to the worlds highest mountain mount Everest. Coronation streets Martin Platt (Sean Wilson) who opened the school will also be travelling to Nepal with a football team made up of stars from the North West. The teams captain Ben Jennings will be representing UAP Ltd. It's also highly likely that a film crew will attend the event from the UK. This is an amazing opportunity for me to produce memorable work and I will be travelling on to India to spend up to two weeks producing stock images for Alamy. I will be based in Delhi for about two weeks, and I am currently looking for a guide through press releases in the Indian national papers.

You can read about the football tournament here
and visit the DCWN-Nepal web site here

UAP Ltd is one of Europe's most prominent suppliers of decorative door hardware and related products. Their site is currently being rebuilt and you can read more about this socially responsible company here

Future news letters will cover my trip and I hope some great images from it. Fingers and toes crossed.

New Web Page (FREE PRO SHOOT)

Ron Heywood recently added a new page to my site named Free Pro Photo Shoot. It explains how and why I am prepared under certain circumstances to offer up to a day’s photographic work free of charge. It lists some of the areas in which I want to produce stock images for Alamy. There are pictures from the last two jobs I did on this basis, one of singer song writer Michael John and the second of under fifteen British Speedway Champion Joe Haines. Joe could well be the Britain's next Lewis Hamilton in becoming a world champion. Visit the new page here and find out how you could even make money by having your photograph taken.

The New Studio is now up and running in Horwich. It is fully equipped to cope with all aspects of photographic work.

DREAM JOB Matthew Marsden Furniture

Mathew Marsden The Perfect Job

Some jobs can be a real pain in the neck or maybe I should say difficult. Several factors contribute to a successful shoot and usually you would be lucky if one or two are perfect. However I recently had a commission which was just first class in every way which is very rare!

Matthew Marsden Furniture asked me to photograph one of their kitchens for magazine ads and sales brochures.

Arriving in Dalton early my contact Sue Marsden was not on site. So I was greeted by the very pleasant Mr and Mrs Leigh the owners of a splendid farmhouse conversion. I was then shown the Kitchen I was to photograph. Having a background in property developing I quickly realised that I was to photograph something rather special. Simply put the kitchen was outstanding in design, build quality and finish. I certainly had not seen anything quite like it before. In addition when Sue and then later Matthew arrived they were both extremely nice and after a quick chat about their requirements I was just left to get on with the job. The room was also full of natural light and I used my new Canon 1Ds Mk2 for the first time.

The result was I spent twice the time on the job as I was paid for and the customer received the best images of a kitchen I have probably ever produced.

See the testimonial here

Matthew trained with his father as a carpenter and joiner and an entrepreneur from an early age sold his hand build cabinets in his mother’s DIY shop. Designing kitchens for his fathers new build houses Matthew was often told that furniture he had drafted could not be made by his manufacturers. He therefore decided to start manufacturing his own and Matthew Marsden Furniture was born. Matthew says “we take great pride in what we produce and I believe our kitchen furniture is the best available.

David Price says “I have never seen anything like it”

September Copy Lancashire magazine

Bolton is to be featured in the September copy of Lancashire Magazine. I supplied the images which I produced over four sessions two of which started at 6.00 am as I wanted to catch the great light. There is a possibility that the cover image may be one I submitted to the Editor. I photographed the University which is now a very modern looking building, in addition to Nelson Sqare and the town hall. I also spent several hours in Le mans Crescent. The magazine will be in the shops the last week in August.
